Atomos Entirely Manually Destemmed Wine From Italy

If you’re a fan of fine wine, then you’ll love Atomos. The first entirely manually destemmed wine in the world, Atomos has an incomparable taste and longevity.

Atomos – Manually Destemmed Wine

Originating from the Abruzzo region of Italy, Atomos is a unique wine made without any mechanical intervention. Beautifully packaged, Atomos wine is a must try for any oenophile.

Abruzzo Wine Region

Abruzzo is one of the oldest wine growing areas in the world. Situated in the central area of Italy, this coastal region borders the Adriatic Sea. The area is also highly mountainous.

The grapes used in Atomos wine grow at the base of the Apennine mountains. The vines are above sea level and benefit from the region’s fertile soil.

How to Do a Great Wine Tasting At Home

Two of the most famous grapes in the Abruzzo region are Montepulciano and Trebbiano. Montepulciano thrives in the clay rich soil of Abruzzo, producing some exceptional red wines.

The Trebbiano grape is the second most planted variety in the region. These grapes develop slowly on the vine thanks to the mountainous location, yielding a fine white wine.

Manual Grape Destemming

What really singles out Atomos wine however, is their manual grape destemming technique. Using a unique Three-Finger process, each grape is carefully destemmed.

Only three fingers are used, with no mechanical intervention. This lengthy process ensures that only the very best grapes are selected.

During the grape destemming process, only ripe, undamaged berries are picked. This single berry harvesting requires a certain skill and patience.

Atomos Wine

Made from 100% pure grape varietals, Atomos wine is up to 65 years old. Only a few hundred bottles are produced each year, making this a very exclusive wine.

Thanks to their optimal acidity and tannin levels, Atomos wines can last over 30 years. Once bottled, the wine is meticulously stored between 14-17° C. This temperature range ensures the perfect conditions to preserve its unique character.

Atomos white wine is made from 100% Trebbiano grapes, planted at the base of Gran Sasso mountain. The red wine comes from the iconic Montepulciano grapes. All the Atomos vines are grown in accordance with organic wine-making best practices.

The multidimensional flavor of Atomos wine mean that it can be enjoyed on its own. However, both red and white wines also lend themselves well to food pairings if preferred.

We were sent a bottle of Atomos red wine to try. Like the Atomos white wine, it comes in a 1 liter bottle rather than the traditional 0.75 liter wine bottles.

This gives an extended wine drinking experience that is very enjoyable. It makes this wine ideal for a special occasion, shared with family or friends.

Atomos red wine has an extraordinary balance of flavor, being created by award winning winemaker Giovanni Basso. The wine bottles come packaged in a stunning handsewn Alcantara pouch. Each pouch has a stylish embroidered Atomos logo.

Atomos Wine Limited Edition

There is also an Atomos Wine Limited Edition, which is presented in a luxurious handcrafted Italian leather bag. Limited to just 9 bottles, this rare wine comes with a Certificate of Exclusivity.

Each limited edition bottle is embossed with an 18 carat gold Atomos logo. The wine ages in one of the oldest caves in the region. It is submersed in a tank filled with wood chips that come from the trees cut before planting the vine. This ensures that humidity and temperature are stable.

This limited edition wine has an intense aroma, together with a great depth of flavor.
